  Union Middle School Builders Club

      Information for Members and Parents

Members of UMSBC continue to amaze me with their dedication to our projects! Because of the desire to do good things for others (and the willingness to stand out in the cold!) we collected $556.22 for UNICEF! We are eligible for a “Silver Club” patch from Kiwanis International because that amount averages to more than $25 collected per member of our club. Great job!

Our members and officers were installed at our last meeting. Each received a pin and certificate. Those who did not attend the December meeting will be installed in January.

The new officers made a presentation to the Kiwanis Club of Union about what we have done so far this year and what we have planned for the coming months. The Kiwanis members were very impressed with what UMSBC has been doing and donated to our UNICEF fund. We are very thankful for their donation.

Preschoolers have already received the Christmas stockings that our members helped prepare. Some of the stockings and the wooden puzzles that were included were decorated by our club. The preschoolers were very excited to get these gifts!

Five members of our club assisted at the “Cram the Cruiser” event where toys were collected for the Angel Tree project. More evidence we are dedicated to helping others.

During our December meeting members decided to stencil tote bags in the next few months to sell at the UMS Craft Fair next November. The proceeds will go to charities to help children. It will take some time and effort to get the bags completed but I know the UMSBC members are up to the task!

Dates for Upcoming Activities:

Saturday, December 14  5:00-8:00  Bell Ringing for Salvation Army at Frick’s

ICBC has already signed up for the earlier times so we have the evening shift. Make sure to dress warm - it will be chilly out there! If you can volunteer for an hour or two, please have your parents text me to let me know times you are available!

Monday, January 6  3:15-4:15  Regular monthly meeting  This is the first day students return from Christmas break so please don’t forget to attend! We will have plenty to do!

Thanks also go to the parents for helping out with all of these events. Without your willingness to transport kids to activities, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do. Your support is awesome!

I hope all of you have a safe and happy holiday season!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,
